Objections are not rejections. They are questions in disguise. A telecaller who stays calm, listens and answers briefly turns many “no” responses into a next step. Here is a four-step method and ten replies to adapt.
The four-step method
- Listen without interrupting.
- Acknowledge: “I understand.”
- Ask one question to find the real reason.
- Answer briefly and propose a next step.
Ten common objections
- “I am busy right now.” – “No problem. When is a better time, today evening or tomorrow morning?”
- “Send details on WhatsApp.” – “Sure, sending now. Which part matters most to you so I can highlight it? I will check in tomorrow.”
- “Not interested.” – “Understood. May I ask if you already use something for this, or it is just not a priority now?”
- “Too expensive.” – “What are you comparing it with? Let me show where the value is, or an option that fits your budget.”
- “I already have a supplier.” – “That is good. Many customers keep one and use us as a backup. May I send our rates for comparison?”
- “I need to ask my partner or boss.” – “Of course. Shall I join a short call with them, or send a summary you can share?”
- “Call me later.” – “Happy to. What day and time should I note?” Then set the reminder.
- “How did you get my number?” – “You enquired on [source]. If you prefer not to be contacted, I will note that right away.”
- “Does it really work?” – “Fair question. I can show a demo with your own data, so you can judge.”
- “I will think about it.” – “Sure. What would help you decide? I will call on [date] to hear your thoughts.”
Practice makes it natural
