In Punjab, Chandigarh and nearby Haryana, a single call can move between Punjabi, Hindi and English. Getting the language right builds trust in the first ten seconds.
Start in the language the customer uses
Greet in Punjabi or Hindi, then follow the customer. If they answer in English, switch. Never force your preferred language on someone.
When each language works best
- Punjabi: local traders, farmers, small shops and older customers; it feels personal.
- Hindi: mixed or migrant customers and customers from outside Punjab.
- English: professionals, students and corporate buyers.
Write scripts in two languages
- Write the key points in simple Hindi or Punjabi in Roman or native script, whichever your team reads faster.
- Keep product terms in English where customers already use them, for example “demo” or “follow-up”.
- Test the script on a real call and shorten anything that sounds bookish.
Tone and respect
Use respectful forms of address and a warm, unhurried tone. Rushing sounds pushy, and politeness in local style goes a long way.
Train a mixed team
- Pair new telecallers with strong bilingual callers for listening sessions.
- Review recordings for language switches that felt awkward.
- Assign leads by language where your CRM allows it.
Sukam Apps trains teams in person across Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana, so your people learn the tool in their own language.
